IMPORTANT DOJO NEWS - PLEASE READ
The Gawler Dojo has been members of the JKA (Japan Karate Association) for some 22 years. Throughout this period we have been instructed by Takahashi Shihan OAM 8th Dan JKA from Japan. Takahashi Shihan has sacrificed approximately 20 weeks every year for 35 years instructing us in the art of Shotokan Karate.
Unfortunately circumstances have arisen in Japan whereby Takahashi Shihan must now depart JKA but will continue to be our Chief Instructor in Australia teaching the true shotokan as taught by Masters Funakoshi and Nakayama. The organisation known as the (TSKF) Traditional Shotokan Karate-do Federation will continue to teach traditional Shotokan Karate. Takahashi Shihan will be the chief instructor here in Australia. It is not our intention to enter into discussion on the reasons for the above changes but to move forward and enjoy our karate. It is the intention of the Gawler, Port Pirie, Yankallila and Evanston Park Dojos to remain loyal to Takahashi Shihan and as such join this new and exciting organisation.
We believe this is to be the beginning of an exciting future and yet still maintain the stability of a high ranking Shotokan Instructor in Takahashi Shihan. We understand that there will be students and instructors that will remain with JKA and we wish them all the best. This decision we make as a group has not been done lightly but we believe we have made the best decision for our group. As the Gawler students are aware, we trained with the SKI and were very lucky to train with Tanaka Sensei 6th Dan (SKI) some weeks ago. This was training of a high calibre and will be the start of many opportunities.
With regards to us now being members of the TSKF, all our grades will remain the same. Takahashi Shihan will still grade as has previously been the case. Shihan will be here in South Australia in August and we will keep you advised of the date and venue.

TSKF Australia Chief Instructor |
Takahashi Shihan 8th Dan Oam

Shihan visits Australia twice a year and spends a total of 22 weeks a year visiting the various states. During this time he conducts training and gradings. We are very lucky to have a man of this calibre teaching us. He brings an unbroken line of instruction to us.
The TSKFA is Shotokan based and not for profit Karate organization that is following the original teachings of the founder Gichin Funakoshi and the late Master Nakayama. TSKFA truly believe that the #1 Principle "Never forget that karate begins and ends with respect" should be followed at all times. We also promote strong moral principles, traditional etiquette and the encouragement of goodwill and harmony among all karateka.
We look forward to an exciting new future with the opportunity to train with like minded Shotokan karate groups and foster an 'open-door' policy.
